Positive About Inclusion celebrated National Inclusion Week by holding our Inclusion Forum North East on 16th September 2026. The event was kindly hosted by the iconic Tyneside Cinema in the centre of Newcastle.
This historic and atmospheric venue provided a lovely backdrop for exploring the subject of ‘Turning Moments Into Momentum’ i.e. how to get the most positive impact from the diversity days and celebration events held throughout the year.
Our movie themed agenda started with an icebreaker activity called The Trailer which asked attendees to think of a movie name that described their organisation’s inclusion journey. Our winning answer received a spontaneous round of applause from fellow attendees which made it easy for our judges Lucy and Karen to award this the honorary Oscar!
We then heard from Clare Nicholson, Business Development Manager at Tyneside Cinema who shared some of this charity’s inclusive history and plans for next year’s much anticipated 90th birthday celebrations.
We then moved on to ‘The Main Feature’, sharing our insight into simple ways to maximise positive impact from celebratory and educational events, how to choose what to celebrate and lessons learnt from organisational best practice or when things have not gone to plan. Our final activity gave everyone the chance to consider how they would prepare for and maximise the impact of a celebratory event picked at random from a selection. This proved to be a hugely useful exercise and provided some real points of learning and consideration for those in the room.
