"A big thank you for delivering two fantastic sessions for Railway Housing Association colleagues to bring equity, diversity and inclusion to life. Colleague feedback has been very positive, and one colleague has already talked about how the session helped him to approach a conversation in a different way, delivering a better outcome."

The regulatory landscape for social housing providers has changed, there is now an augmented spotlight on how organisations deliver equitable outcomes for diverse customers. With this renewed focus in mind Railway Housing Association commissioned Positive About Inclusion to design and deliver two 90 minute webinars to bring ED&I to life for colleagues from across the business.

Railway Housing Association is a North East based social housing provider. Their mission is to make best use of our resources to provide good quality, desirable and affordable homes for residents in need of housing‘ and this is underpinned by their five values to be: caring, fair, efficient, open & trustworthy.

We designed and delivered two engaging and informative webinars which were suitable for all colleagues. The sessions provided attendees with an overview of the regulatory landscape, covered what ‘diverse needs’ and ‘equitable outcomes’ are, and explored the practical behaviours and mindset that colleagues can adopt to effectively respond to the new requirements including:

  • Empathy – Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes

  • Active Listening – Listening to understand, rather than to respond

  • Assumptions and Bias – Using your experience but not being limited by it

  • Working Together – Supporting each other to do the right thing

“A big thank you to Karen and Lucy from Positive About Inclusion for delivering two fantastic sessions for Railway Housing Association colleagues this morning to bring equity, diversity and inclusion to life.

Colleague feedback has been very positive, and one colleague has already talked about how the session helped him to approach a conversation in a different way, delivering a better outcome.”
