Following successful delivery of an engaging all-colleague workshop with a focus on language, Positive About Inclusion was commissioned by the Northern Housing Consortium to design and deliver a bespoke two-stage development workshop for their EDI Champions. The desired outcome from the workshops was to increase the Champion’s levels of understanding, confidence and fluency as well as identify priorities the group should focus on.
The first workshop was designed to ‘set the scene’, providing the foundational understanding of what EDI is and why it matters in the context of the social housing sector and beyond. This allowed participants to refresh their understanding, ensuring everyone was on the same page from the outset. We explored the key skills that the Champions could adopt to embed an inclusive culture, with each Champion making a personal commitment and the group establishing some shared commitments they could pursue.
The second workshop was titled ‘Making It Happen’ and was held a number of weeks after the first to allow for a period of self-reflection and action on the individual and collective commitments made in Workshop One. This workshop was outcome-focussed with an exploration of the key areas of activity discussed in Workshop One and actions, priorities, roles and responsibilities identified to ensure added value was achieved, both for Northern Housing Consortium colleagues and their members.
“Thank you once again for last week! The workshop has got all of us involved thinking about our commitments and what we need to do to ensure we act on those…”
