We were delighted to give back by supporting Daxi Environmental Ltd at the quarterly in-person North East Recycling Forum (NERF) event that they facilitate on behalf of its members.
About NERF
The North East Recycling Forum has been operating for over 30 years, facilitating a space for public, private and community sector members from the waste and recycling sectors to collaborate and share best practice. Daxi Environmental Ltd is responsible for providing secretariat support for NERF, facilitating networking events and disseminating information to members.
Challenges and Objectives
The primary objective from Daxi Environmental Ltd was to introduce the subject of inclusivity as a priority topic for NERF. The mixed audience, made up of a range participants from private contractors to local authority members, had a varying level of understanding or exposure to this subject area previously.
Solution
We designed and delivered a 45 minute in-person presentation which incorporated the opportunity for questions from the audience. This was delivered as the final session before delegates broke for lunch to enable the discussion to continue over the break.
Impact
The approach we adopted worked really well – by reminding attendees of the basics and creating a safe space for open discussion, delegates were able to reflect on the need for the waste and recycling sectors to do more to enhance inclusivity for their colleagues and the communities they serve. A number of delegates contacted us after the session to discuss how the conversation can continue within their particular place of work.
