At a Glance

Positive About Inclusion was commissioned by Connect Housing to facilitate an Inclusive Culture workshop for their EDI Working Group. The brief was to design and deliver an engaging workshop to help the group consider their role and prioritise the action they will be undertaking to support Connect Housing to embed and sustain an inclusive culture.

About the Client

Connect Housing provides homes and support across West Yorkshire focusing on creating a sustainable and just society, where good homes, neighbourhoods and opportunities help people enjoy happy, healthy lives.

Challenges and Objectives

Connect Housing required a session that challenged members of the EDI Working Group to think about what an inclusive culture looked like for their organisation and to reflect on their roles and responsibilities as individual members and also as a collective working group. The workshop needed to be bespoke, to align with their vision and values and their EDI progress made so far.

Solution

We designed and delivered a fast-paced and engaging 2 hour workshop, delivered in person at Connect Housing’s Dewsbury office. The workshop was themed around a journey (to inclusivity) and participants engaged in a number of activities from ‘Choosing their Destination’ (i.e. describing their inclusivity nirvana at Connect Housing) to ‘Getting Everyone on Board’ (i.e. the practical steps they would take to ensure everyone was on the same page and working to the same goals). Each of the activities was supplemented with some learning about the subject matter and real examples from our experiences were shared.

Impact

The session certainly achieved the outcomes desired with those in attendance enjoying the opportunity to get to know each other better, to update their understanding and to reflect on their roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm, a shared sense of priorities to support Connect Housing on their journey to inclusivity.

“Thank you both, it was an insightful workshop and a really good session that will help us on our journey. Look forward to working with you again soon hopefully.”
