Following the design and delivery of an exploratory equity, diversity and inclusion workshop for their Leadership Team, we were delighted to be invited back to deliver a further project for Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) group of EDI Champions in the form of a half day workshop.
Having been established for a year or so, the EDI Group were keen to explore the different ways they could have a positive impact on the work of CVHA. Through liaison with their People Director, we identified that the group was keen to drive the agenda and make progress, equally establishing key areas of focus, suitable next steps and allocating responsibilities would add great value. This ensures that the time being invested by members and the organisation delivers a great return on that investment and achieves value for money for colleagues, customers and the wider community.
In response to the feedback heard and the learning outcomes discussed, we designed and delivered a bespoke 3.5 hour workshop titled ‘Influence and Impact’. This was an engaging and enjoyable mixture of reflection, individual and group activities including:
- an icebreaker activity to help the members get to know each other better and consider diversity
- myth busting and consideration of the politically charged context around EDI currently
- a two stage activity looking at motivation – the first part focussed on individual motivations followed by small groups exploring these in the context of the roles of EDI Champions and ambitions for the group
- reflection on the key skills that support EDI Champions to make a positive difference – learn, challenge and support
- a group activity considering language, terminology and behaviour and how these could be challenged if necessary
- final activity exploring our spheres of influence – what is in our direct control, under our influence and opportunities for wider impact
As a result of this workshop, the EDI Group now have an increased understanding of themselves and each other as well as their key areas of focus for the next 12 months and beyond, supported by the insight to enable the allocation of responsibilities and to structure the group to best deliver these objectives.
“It was a great session! Thank you again Lucy and Karen. We are really focussed now and looking forward to what we can achieve together this year!”
Lisa Beresford, People Director, Clyde Valley Housing Association
