We were delighted to be asked to once again work with Belfast & Lisburn Women’s Aid to facilitate a Strategic Review Day for their Board of Trustees and SMT.
Held at the beautiful Titanic Hotel, the aims of the day were two-fold, for the Board and SMT to get to know each other better, and to complete a review of the organisation’s current position alongside a future focus.
We chose to use Alice in Wonderland as a theme because the metaphors contained within the book around self awareness, curiosity and creativity aligned perfectly with the aims of the Strategic Review day. Activities included:
-
Curiouser and Curiouser – in this activity participants learnt more about each other, their similarities and differences
-
Who in the World Am I? – this was a thinking styles activity during which participants considered their cognitive diversity and what makes a great Board/SMT
-
Six Impossible Things – this activity focused on achievements and the way ahead, exploring and prioritising future activity
-
Down the Rabbit Hole – in this activity participants completed a deep dive on the priority actions previously identified
The day went really well and participants enjoyed both the theme and how much they achieved.
“Your hosting of the Strategic Review was excellent. I loved your use of Alice in Wonderland which was a useful and fun way to approach the review.”
Jill Downing, Solicitor Housing Rights & BLWA Board of Trustees
