Positive About Inclusion was commissioned by Belfast & Lisburn Women’s Aid to facilitate a strategic planning day for their Board and Senior Management Team. The brief was to design an engaging, interactive and challenging event to facilitate the team’s development of their strategic objectives for the next three years.
About the Client
Belfast & Lisburn Women’s Aid is a member of Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland, the lead voluntary organisation in the region addressing domestic abuse. They work with other local groups across Northern Ireland, providing life-saving and life-changing services and support.
Challenges and Objectives
There was a lot to get through on the day, held at the beautiful Titanic Hotel in Belfast, so planning the activities to meet the requirements and maintain everyone’s engagement was critical.
Solution
We chose to use a weather theme for the day and the activities ranged from a ‘Blue Sky Thinking Workshop’ during which the Board and Senior Team group established objectives, to a ‘Making Rainbows’ session where the draft objectives were prioritised and measurables established. We even held a ‘Snowball Fight’ after lunch to energise everyone!
Impact
The day certainly achieved the outcomes anticipated, the Board and Senior Team left the event with their objectives created and prioritised alongside a suite of measures of success which will provide the Board with reassurance about progress moving forward. Furthermore, everyone enjoyed it!
“We’d like to thank Lucy & Karen for facilitating such an intriguing day – we have lots of actions to take forward and we have had great feedback from all of the Board!”
