Positive About Inclusion was delighted to be commissioned by Assured Guaranty (AG) to create and deliver a memorable and engaging team building event for UK colleagues focussed on equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I).

Assured Guaranty is a leading provider of financial guaranty insurance. With almost four decades as a financial guarantor, Assured Guaranty is American owned and has offices all over the world.

The brief for the event was to build on and enhance existing ED&I knowledge through the exploration of the key skills and behaviours that everyone in the organisation has some responsibility for to sustain an inclusive workplace culture in a fun and team building way!

We designed and delivered three activities for AG colleagues that we facilitated on a rotational basis having split the group into three teams. Delivering activities in this way ensured that all participants could fully engage before everyone came back together for a final group competitive activity.

All three activities included some discussion and an interactive/game element to explore:

Equity – the difference  between equality and equity and how adopting an equity mindset requires some practice and concerted effort to recognise and effectively respond to diverse needs.

Diversity – how our diversity is multi-faceted, how its about more than the nine protected characteristics covered in the UK equality legislation and how out lifetime of experiences shape how we respond in different situations and the bias that we hold.

Inclusion – how creating and sustaining an inclusive workplace culture is everyone’s active responsibility. The language we use and the words we say are one of the most powerful tools at our disposal to create an inclusive workplace.

At the end of the event the three groups were brought back together for a final competitive activity.

The event was a great success – AG colleagues enjoyed spending quality time together to get to know each other a little better, to understand themselves more deeply and explore ED&I issues. Without doubt the event started conversations and prompted reflection.

“It was a pleasure to have you and thank you very much!”
