At a Glance

Positive About Inclusion was commissioned by Age UK Sunderland to facilitate a strategic planning event for their Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team. The brief was to design an engaging and interactive event to facilitate the development of their strategic objectives for the next three years.

About the Client

Age UK Sunderland is a strong, local and independent charity run by and for the people of Sunderland. They support older people throughout the city through the provision of quality services and by campaigning on issues that affect them. Age UK Sunderland aims to promote the well-being of all older people throughout the City of Sunderland, improve their quality of life and help them maintain independence.

Challenges and Objectives

Age UK Sunderland required a session that reflected on the challenges, lessons learnt and opportunities that had arisen as a result of the pandemic. The goal was to collectively agree and establish priorities, objectives and measurables for Age UK Sunderland’s Strategic Plan for 2022-2025.

Solution

Because of the time of year, we chose to use a Christmas theme for the day and the activities ranged from a ‘Christmas Shopping’ energising activity, to get into a strategic mindset, to a ‘Christmas Present’ exercise to identify the key priorities.

Impact

The day certainly achieved the outcomes anticipated, the Board of Trustees and Senior Team left the event with their objectives created having had a great afternoon!
