On 18th September, Positive About Inclusion launched a Housing Masterclass, a series of online learning events for social housing professionals to learn, network and share best practice together.
The focus of our inaugural event was an exploration of the equity, diversity and inclusion elements of the revised social housing regulatory landscape. With the requirement to recognise diverse needs, make reasonable adjustments and ensure equitable outcomes, the attitude and mindset of those delivering front line service is more important than ever.
We were delighted to be joined by a range housing professionals, from front line team members to Board Members representing a diverse range of both supported and general needs housing organisations from across the country including Housing 21, Tyne Housing, Gentoo, Livv Housing, Leeds Federated HA and Wrekin Housing Group.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants welcoming the opportunity for some useful reflection on current organisational practices and to discuss improvements and approaches to consider.
Lucy said “We are delighted to launch this series of Housing Masterclass events, it’s something we have been thinking about for a while as a number of the organisations with whom we work have asked us to provide just this type of learning opportunity.” Karen continued “There is something special about getting a mix of people in the virtual room and seeing those connections being made. It’s an added bonus on top of the learning and sharing that goes on!”
The next Housing Masterclass will focus on ways to support Board Members in gaining assurance that inclusivity is being considered as part of an effective approach to governance and compliance.
