We were delighted to be commissioned to design and deliver an all colleague ED&I training session for PHA Homes. PHA Homes is a relatively small social housing provider in Hampshire with a commitment to providing great homes and supporting communities.
We delivered a two hour online bespoke training session for colleagues from across the business and including the senior leadership team. The session covered:
-
What equity, diversity and inclusion are and how they combine to create a sense of belonging. Including the difference between equity and equality and the responsibility everyone has to create an inclusive culture – regardless of their role in an organisation
-
The regulatory, PHA and societal context in 2024. Including how the regulatory landscape has changed, how embracing ED&I in service delivery is intrinsically a key element of PHA’s new vision and values, and how embracing ED&I improves service for residents
-
The key skills and behaviours to adopt to embed an inclusive culture in the workplace and beyond. This included the power of the language that we use and choose not to use, empathy and active listening, the bias and assumptions we make and how to mitigate any negative impact, and supporting each other to do the right thing, encouraging psychological safe spaces where respectful challenge is embraced
The final activity was a collaborative activity to explore where PHA are now on their ED&I journey and where they would like to get to.
“The training session facilitated by Karen & Lucy was really engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. All team members were made to feel comfortable and had plenty of opportunity to share their thoughts through the session. The training really helped bring ED&I to life for the team and has helped prompt some good conversations.”
