We are delighted to announce that Positive About Inclusion has created an equality, diversity and inclusion toolkit designed to support organisations across the housing sector on their journey to inclusivity.
Working in partnership with our friends at HQN, the toolkit is a self-assessment health-check covering the key components to embedding an inclusive culture, from the role the senior leadership team plays to the effective alignment of the supply chain. By completing the toolkit, HQN members will gain an understanding of their organisation’s position, as well as an insight into the action that can be taken to progress their journey to inclusivity.
As a movement steeped in social justice, delivered by people-focused organisations, equality, diversity and inclusion has always been high on the agenda for the social housing sector. There is an understanding in the sector of the value in creating an inclusive workplace and a recognition of the need within organisations to reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. Whilst there is this understanding and recognition, there is still much more that can be done, and organisations are at different stages on their journey. The toolkit is designed to help with that journey.
We love what the Chief Executive of the HQN said about why we had been chosen to design this work for them…
“Why did we ask Lucy and Karen to write this for us? It’s because we like how they go about their work. Here’s what they say: “What makes us different is that we fundamentally believe that creating inclusive workplaces is not about one-off interventions, but working with you, your values, and your people to create a legacy of sustained and embedded inclusion.”
Alistair McIntosh, HQN Chief Executive
